FIFTY new jobs are being created as "world food" chain COSMO invests £1m in opening a new restaurant.

The buffet restaurant, which will seat 220 diners, is opening next month on the site of the former Argos store in Bridge Street, York.

It will feature eight live cooking stations, serving food inspired by cuisine from India, China, Japan, Vietnam, Brazil, Italy and Thailand.

Creative director James Brion praised regeneration schemes in York for attracting the brand to the city.

"We are very excited by our prominent location overlooking the river and promise that our restaurant, with the vast choice of dishes from so many countries at one time, will be like nowhere else in the city,” he said.
