A SERIES of textile workshops and events are taking place at the Head of Steam Museum throughout June.

The Freepass exhibition, which displays the railway heritage of the North East through textiles, has been running at the museum since April and is now being complemented by workshops, talks and selling events organised by the artist Catherine Howard.

Ms Howard will lead an Introduction to Screen Printing Workshop on Wednesday (June 4) from 10am to 3pm and a Freehand Machine Embroidery Workshop on Wednesday, June 11 from 10am to 3pm.

All materials will be provided for both workshops, but students will need to bring their own sewing machines for the machine embroidery.

On Sunday, June 8, Malcolm Clements will give a talk titled The Creative Genius of Japan at 1pm, but for those who prefer retail therapy there will be an Art and Textiles Selling Fair on June 21 and 22 between 10am and 3.30pm.

For more information about the events and to book a place on one of the courses, contact the museum on 01325-460532.
