Pedestrian knocked over by motorcycle dies in hospital

A WOMAN who was knocked down by a motorbike a week ago has died.
The pedestrian, a woman in her 70s, was taken to hospital by air ambulance following the accident in South Hetton Road, Easington Lane, near Houghton-le-Spring, at 12.15pm on Tuesday, May 20.
She died early this morning (Tuesday, May 27).
A police spokesman said: “Next of kin are being spoken to and her identity will be released in due course.
“There were two people on the motorbike – the rider and passenger. Both were taken to hospital and released after treatment.
“Officers are continuing to carry out enquiries to establish what happened and are asking any witnesses to contact them.”
Witnesses are asked to call Northumbria Police on 101, extension 69191, quoting reference 487 20/05/14.
