MONEY raised from a Mods and Rockers charity run organised by a scooter club and motorbike group is to be presented to Normandy veterans.
York Inset Scooter club is to present £215 to the city’s branch of the Normandy Veterans Association on Tuesday, May 27 at The Walnut Tree pub in Heworth, York.
The money was raised by participants in a recent charity run with Ryedale Riders Motorcycle Club. It is hoped the money will assist the veterans on their return to Normandy in June for the 70th anniversary of the D-Day Landings.
The scooter club has worked with the York branch of the Normandy Veterans Association since 2010. In that time it has helped raise more than £3,000 for the group and said it will continue to support them in whatever way it can as long as they need it.
