A CHARITY golf day has raised more than £750 for an organisation that supports soldiers and their families in times of need.

Brigadier Grevillie Bibby, Army Commander for Yorkshire and the North East, led one of the teams of golfers who competed at Catterick Golf Club in the Catterick 100 ABF Golf Day on Wednesday. (May 21)

Funds were raised for the Army’s national charity, ABF the Soldiers’ Charity, whose regional office is in the garrison.

Winners were the Gurkha Company, comprising Raja Tamang, Ram Malla, Janga Singali and Jitandra Tamang.

Major Barney Barnbrook, regional director of the charity said: “It was a fantastic day with a great turnout and Catterick Golf Club has provided a real test of golf on a course in great condition.”

“Overall we have raised £750 today which is much needed support for soldiers, former soldiers and their families in genuine need across our region.”

ABF the Soldiers’ Charity also provides financial support to numerous military and non-military charities.
