AN AMERICAN soul legend has been revealed as the headline act for a popular seafood festival.
Mississippi-born singer Alexander O’Neal and comedian Terry Alderton will perform at the 11th annual Oyster Festival at Hardwick Hall Hotel, near Sedgefield, County Durham, on Friday, September 19.
Mr O’Neal had success with hits such as Saturday Love, Criticize and If You Were Here Tonight, and is regarded as one of the greatest singers of the 1980s soul era.
His platinum-selling album Hearsay sold almost one million copies in the UK alone.
Mr Alderton, meanwhile, is one of Britain’s most exciting comedic talents and has performed all over the globe including Edinburgh, New Zealand, India and Australia.
John Adamson, managing director of Ramside Estates, which owns the hotel, said: “The Oyster Festival has gone from strength to strength and each year attracts a fantastic crowd who know how to have a good time.
“Last year we had a sell out and we’re anticipating the same demand this year given we have such strong headline acts.”
Festival favourites the Wildcats of Kilkenny and JJ Galway band will also perform and guests can look forward to the Oyster Festival’s signature Fruits de Mer menu, oyster stalls and free-flowing drinks.
Tickets are now on sale priced at £140 plus VAT per person. For more information or to book contact 01740 620253 or email firstname.lastname@example.org
