POLICE are appealing for witnesses after a man needed hospital treatment for head injuries following a fight outside a market town pub.

A large group of men were involved in a brawl on Saturday outside the White Horse pub, on Market Street, in Ferryhill, in County Durham.

Durham Police officers attended the scene at about 10.40pm and three people were taken to hospital for treatment as a result of the trouble.

One is being treated in hospital for head injuries, which are not thought to be life threatening, while two others with facial injuries have since been discharged.

Weapons are not believed to have been used in the fight and it did not move into the pub.

A19-year-old male and a 24-year-old man, both of Ferryhill, were arrested in connection with the fight.

They have been released on bail pending further enquiries. Police officers are still seeking another man in relation to their enquiries into the incident.
