ORGANISERS of a music project are hoping to drum up interest in a school holiday samba workshop.

It is being organised by Crook-based Jack Drum Arts Youth Music and offers participants the chance to work with musicians Hannagiell Sanders and Yilis del Carmen Suriel.

Sessions take place daily during half term from Wednesday, May 28, to Saturday, May 31, from 10.30am to 4.30pm.

The aim is to create a high energy drum and brass fusion ready to be performed at various festivals and other events throughout the summer.

Places on the workshop cost £20 for the week and also include costume and travel to all rehearsals and performance venues.

A number of free places are available for those unable to afford the fee.

Confirmed performances include !Vamos, in Newcastle, on June 7; Durham Regatta on June 14; the Big Brass Bash, in Crook, on July 11 and Our Big Gig at Auckland Castle, Bishop Auckland, on July 13.

Anyone wishing to take part should book in advance. Email info@jackdrum.co.uk or call 01388-765002.
