A PANEL of horticultural experts will share their knowledge at a gardeners’ question time event in Sedgefield this summer.

The event, at the Parish Hall on Friday, July 4, will see Royal Horticultural Society (RHS) Britain in Bloom judges answer questions posed by members of the public from 7pm.

Rae Beckwith, a daffodil breeder who has worked for Gateshead Parks and Gardens and Houghall College, near Durham, is one of the experts who will be on hand.

He will be joined by Sedgefield in Bloom supporter Andrew Jackson, from Durham County Council, and Roger Burnett, RHS chairman.

The Sedgefield in Bloom committee is hosting the event and all the money raised on the night will be used to fund projects to protect and improve the town environment.

Norma Neal, of Sedgefield in Bloom, said: “I hope people will join us for what should be a wonderful evening, raising funds for bloom project. The experts on the panel have a wealth of knowledge and experience. It is a must for all gardening enthusiasts.”

Tickets are available from Sedgefield Town Council offices on Front Street and cost £5, including a glass of wine on arrival.

The tickets contain a tear off strip for questions for the experts, who will have no idea what is coming up.
