A YORKSHIRE Dales holiday park has been used as a filming location for a popular children’s television channel.

CBeebies presenter Gemma Hunt has spent a weekend in Wensleydale filming with Serious Media, a film company that makes Scripture Union storytelling programmes.

Set previously in the Eden Project and the National Space Centre, this year the team came to the Jonas Centre in Redmire, near Leyburn, as a log cabin was needed as a film location.

Ms Hunt has worked with Serious Media presenting previous Scripture Union Holiday Club DVDs, Space Academy and Mega Makers.

The programme is to be called Polar Explorers and will follow the stories of five Biblical characters - Peter, Stephen, Philip, Saul and Timothy. The DVD will be available later this year.

The Jonas Centre had been recommended to the film company and centre director Simon Eastwood said he was happy to get involved.

“The Jonas Centre has been used as a film location before so we were pleased to be able to help out again,” he said.

“I am also looking forward to seeing how they recreate the Arctic conditions through the window of the log cabin when the normal view is the Wensleydale Railway.”
