MUSEUM bosses have set up a challenge for Lego fans - build a castle fit for a King and it will go on public display this May half term.

From May 24 to June 1 the Castle Museum in York is celebrating the success of the humble Lego brick, with a series of events.

And they are asking those aged 16 or under to build their most ambitious and imaginative Lego castle and email a picture to the museum.

The museum team will then pick three winners in different age categories and put them on display where they will be seen by thousands of people over the half term holiday. Visitors will then vote for one of these three as the overall winner.

Assistant curator Lucy Knock said: “We thought it would be a fun idea to put a challenge to the Lego builders of Yorkshire and beyond to see who can come up with the most ambitious and extravagant Lego castle.

“This doesn’t have to be the biggest – it could be remarkable for a many number of reasons – what we are looking for is imagination, style and a little 'je ne sais quoi'.”

To enter, send pictures and contact details to legocastle@ymt.org.uk by May 21 - and be ready to bring the castle to the museum for May 23.
