A NEW photobook features images of Durham Cathedral taken by its Dean.

Durham Cathedral: A Pilgrimage in Photographs is the work of the Very Reverend Michael Sadgrove, Dean of Durham, and Philip Nixon, a respected photographer and Cathedral steward and guide.

Dean Sadgrove said: “This is essentially about making a journey of both the eye and the spirit, learning to see things, in this case the Cathedral, in new ways so that some kind of response is drawn out of us.

“What that will be depends on the individual person – love, happiness, hope, joy, maybe also a sense of the tragedy of so much of life, regrets for the past, a new awareness of the possibility of forgiveness; the responses are endless.”

The book is on sale now at the Durham Cathedral bookshop, priced £14.99.
