A TALENTED North-East soprano is returning to the region to perform with a leading North Yorkshire choir in Northallerton’s All Saints church.

Rowan Pierce, from Saltburn, is studying on a scholarship at the Royal College of Music. She will be one of two soloists singing with the North Yorkshire Chorus on Saturday, May 17, in a programme that includes works by Vivaldi, Rutter and Haydn. Rowan has a growing reputation as a professional performer in masterclasses and festivals all over the country. She first sang with the North Yorkshire Chorus last May as a soloist in Mozart’s Coronation Mass, in a concert dedicated to the Queen’s Golden Jubilee.

Joining Rowan will be contralto soloist Caroline Daggett , a colleague from the RCM, who will be singing with the chorus for the first time. Accompaniment will be provided by the North Yorkshire Pro-Musica Orchestra.

Greg Smith, the choir’s musical director, said: “Rowan delighted our audience with the quality of her performance last year, and we are thrilled that she has been able to join us again for our May concert. She and Caroline will do justice to some very fine music.”

Tickets are available on the door, or can be bought in advance online via northyorkshirechorus.org.uk or NYC’s ticket officer on 01642-783475.
