YOUNG thespians are tackling teenage pregnancies in their performance for a regional youth theatre festival.

The amateur actors from ArtSpark Youth Theatre Academy have been rehearsing their adaptation of the Berlie Doherty novel, Dear Nobody, in preparation for the North-East Regional Youth Theatre Festival.

The book follows the story of an unplanned teenage pregnancy and its effect on the young people and their families.

The young actors will showcase their performance at the festival on Saturday, June 7 at Darlington Civic Theatre.

The event, which lasts all day, is open to youngsters from across the region aged 11 to 18 and is run in partnership with the National Association of Youth Theatres (NAYT).

Throughout the event, the youngsters will be able to immerse themselves in the world of amateur dramatics and watch a number of performances by actors from around the region.

More than 90 young people attended last year’s event with performances from five youth theatres.

Tickets for young people who are part of a youth theatre with enhanced NAYT membership are £8.50 and £10 for other spectators.

For more information or to book tickets visit nayt.org.uk or call audience and participation officer, Lyndsey Middleton, at the theatre, on 01325-387765.
