A THREE-day festival of the arts will be back next year – following the runaway success of this year’s event.

More than 60 artists took part in the Dales Festival of Arts in Leyburn, featuring dance, arts, crafts and music.

It was the second time such an event had been held, coinciding with the town’s food and drink festival, and it proved such a hit with the public that producers are already working on next year’s extravaganza.

Caroline Pearce, of Luxi Ltd who organised the event for Richmondshire District Council, said: “The festival was a fantastic opportunity to bring a range of artists together, in the Dales, from the Dales and to the Dales.

“The food festival is such a fantastic event and brings opportunities for people in the town, which the new arts festival can be part of. We're looking forward to next year and the event going from strength to strength.”

Throughout the arts festival Leyburn’s Market Place was a hub of activity with dance, theatre and music performances alongside a showcase of work by local artists from across the Dales.

Dales Festival of Arts is supported by Arts Council England, Richmondshire District Council and the Yorkshire Festival.
