BRITISH Transport Police (BTP) are appealing for witnesses after a “terrifying” fight broke out at Darlington train station.

The fight took place at about 10.15pm on April 19 and involved two groups who had been travelling by train from York.

After the fight one of the men boarded a train to Middlesbrough and police would like to speak to him and another man caught on CCTV.

Police Constable Tony McGhin, who is leading the investigation, said: “The behaviour of these two groups was completely unacceptable and it must have been a terrifying experience for other passengers and staff at the station.

“If you recognise the men pictured, who I believe may be able to greatly assist the investigation, please get in touch.

“Passengers can be reassured that BTP takes all violent offences extremely seriously and we are doing everything we can to trace the offenders and bring him to justice.”

Anyone with information is asked to contact BTP on 0800-405040.
