MEMORIES of the Consett steelworks will be brought back when a new musical production of The Full Monty comes to the town.
The Empire Theatre is staging the show from June 10-14 with players from CBS Musical and Stage Society.
It is set in New York and when the steelworks closes, leaving the men out of work, they have no hope and no future. A group of men brought together by redundancy decide to become male strippers to earn some money and to save themselves from debt.
Director Virginia Aken said: “This production has provided much laughter during rehearsals and has reduced several of us to tears, literally.
“I have had the pleasure of working with a brave and wonderful cast, some of who are new to the group and my thanks goes to all of them all for their commitment and dedication to the show.”
Tickets for the evening show with a matinee on the Saturday are £14, £10 concessions and can be booked by calling 01207-218171.
