A MOBILE police office has taken to the road to take policing services into rural communities.

Following a successful pilot scheme in the Craven area, North Yorkshire Police is rolling out the service to Easingwold and Settle, with Helmsley to be incorporated at a later date.

The mobile service, which will continue to October, will provide services available at larger stations such as reporting incidents, reporting lost and found property, producing driving documents and general crime prevention advice.

The public will also be able to talk to staff about anything which concerns them and obtain advice on what to do next.

It will operate on each market day subject to staffing and operational demand. For a full list of dates, check the website northyorkshire.police.uk/mpo. Posters will also be displayed locally.

The force’s head of local policing, Temporary Chief Superintendent Lisa Winward, said: “The mobile police office scheme allows us to take our services right into the centre of our local towns.

“By being proactive and taking our services into busy areas, we are able to engage with many more people including those who may not be in a position to, or have the time to attend a police station.”
