ENTRIES are being sought for a competition which forms part of a town’s annual carnival.

The theme for this year’s Barnard Castle Meet scarecrow competition is nursery rhymes.

All businesses and residents are invited to create a scarecrow to display inside or outside their premises or home.

Alternatively businesses can choose to create a special Meet celebration window display.

It costs £1 to enter, with proceeds going towards funds for staging The Meet.

All scarecrows and displays must be completed by Saturday, May 10, with judging taking place on Friday, May 23.

There will be two £50 prizes for the best business scarecrow or window and the best entry by a local resident.

Entry forms can be found in the Meet brochure or are available at The Golden Lion Pub, 30 Market Place, Barnard Castle.
