THE Indian High Commissioner is to visit the North-East next week (Monday, May 5).
Ranjan Mathai will visit Durham University, at the invitation of the Durham Union Society (DUS) debating society, on Monday, May 5.
Mr Mathai will speak about the India’s economy and society.
DUS president Rishiraj Goenka, who is also Indian, said: “We are really honoured to welcome Mr Mathai to the DUS to learn more about his perspectives on the changing landscape of India.”
The event is open to university staff and students.
Mr Mathai is a former Foreign Secretary of India and has served as the country’s ambassador to Israel, Qatar and France. He was appointed to the UK post last September.
