A COMMUNITY’s flower display is expected to be more colourful than ever thanks to a cash donation from a homebuilder.
Taylor Wimpey has given Stainton and Thornton Parish Council £500 to go towards their annual flower displays.
The donation will be used to enable the council to provide extra planting facilities in the area on the outskirts of Middlesbrough, with the hope of winning Northumbria in Bloom later in the year.
Ron Dennison, chairman of the council’s environment committee, said: “The money has enabled us to provide extra planting areas across key parts of the region, and with our summer bedding set to begin in the coming weeks, the flower beds will no doubt look fantastic.”
Judging for this year’s Northumbria in Bloom takes place in July.
