A MAN has been charged with attempted murder after a stabbing incident outside a pub in High Hawsker, near Whitby, on Sunday night.
A 30-year-old man from Belper in Derbyshire is currently in a stable condition at James Cook University Hospital, Middlesbrough, having undergone surgery for stab wounds to his body.
A 31-year-old man from High Hawsker was arrested at 1.55am today (Monday, April 21) near Hawsker in connection with the incident, which happened outside the Hare and Hounds pub at about 10pm last night.
An area outside the pub was cordoned off for a forensic examination which has now been completed.
Tonight North Yorkshire Police said the arrested man has been charged with attempted murder and possession of a bladed article.
He has been remanded in custody and will appear at Scarborough Magistrates' Court tomorrow morning.
