EXPERTS will offer valuations and advice at a drop-in antiques fair at a North-East museum next weekend. (Saturday, April 26 and Sunday, April 27.)

The Bowes Museum, in Barnard Castle, will host the event on Saturday April 26 and Sunday April 27, 10am to 4.30pm each day.

Organised by Galloway Fairs, the event will be held in the museum’s picture galleries and attended by 35 dealers from across the country selling antiques and fine arts.

Auction house Addisons of Barnard Castle will also attend to offer free advice to visitors, no booking necessary.

Among the experts will be senior auctioneer and valuer Richard Edwards, who previously worked at Sotheby’s and Doyle New York, and Henrietta Graham, who has held positions at both Sotheby’s and Bonhams.

Mr Edwards said: “As well as looking around the many quality trade stalls, this is an ideal opportunity for people to find out a bit more about their own objects and get an indication as to what they are worth in a relaxed and informal setting.

“These events are always great fun and can also get pretty exciting because you never know what will turn up.”

Admission to the fair, including the museum, will be £5.
