STAFF and customers at a Durham store are among the best fund-aisers in the country.
The Durham branch of Poundland had the sixth highest total of any store in the country, raising £6,579 towards the company’s. £1,035,000 support for Macmillan Cancer Support.
Over the past five years staff and customers have participated in a 24- hour Three Peaks Challenge, dress down days, collections and raffles.
Store manager Sheena Brown said: “I am so proud that our store is one of the top ten fundraising stores in the whole country for Macmillan.
“We have really thrown ourselves into the charity fundraising as it’s such a good cause that is close to many of our hearts, and I would like to take this opportunity to say thank you to our customers for their support too.”
Lynda Thomas, the charity’s Director of Fundraising, said: “Huge congratulations to everyone at Poundland in Durham who have worked so incredibly hard to raise this money for Macmillan.
“We are grateful for your ongoing support, and the money you have raised will go a long way to helping Macmillan to ensure that no one faces cancer alone. Thank you.”
