A GROUP of young dancers have been chosen to star in a UK production of Peter Pan when it takes to the stage at a North-East theatre this weekend.

Megan Austin, Sophie Bush, Grace Catterick, Amy Chatt, Milly Duggan, Darcy Kent, Emily Langsley-Melvin, Lucy Murray, Bridget Proctor, Chloe Shaw, Anna Shorten, Ellie Sisterson and Tilly Walker were selected from more than 200 students at Aycliffe Dance Academy, in Newton Aycliffe.

The dance school was chosen to provide 12 Lost Boys and Tinkerbell by production company Enchanted Entertainment, which is touring with the show.

It will be on at Darlington Civic Theatre on Saturday, April 19, at 3pm and 7pm, and Sunday, April 20, at 1pm and 4.30pm Aycliffe Dance Academy principal Emma Cox said: “I couldn’t believe it when I received the phone call from the show’s producer to say that we had been chosen.

“I was so excited and over the moon to be able to present this amazing opportunity to some of my students.

“The academy is just about to celebrate its fourth birthday. I can’t believe how far we have come, I could burst with pride.”
