POLICE are trying to track down a street thug – after he attacked a car with his head.

The man approached the driver’s side of a red VW Golf when it was stopped at the traffic lights at the junction of Melrosegate and Hull Road in York.

He then head-butted the side window and smashed it, leaving the shocked 17-year-old driver of the car with a cut to his arm.

The suspect was in his early 20s, with tanned skin, short black hair, around 6ft tall and of medium build. He was wearing a grey jacket with red sleeves and dark coloured trousers. He was with another man who had blonde curly hair and he was wearing a dark jacket with grey sleeves.

The incident happened at about 9.45pm on April 4 and officers would like to speak to anyone who witnessed what happened or can help identify the suspect.

Contact North Yorkshire Police on 101, select option two and ask for PC Hannah McPeake or, to remain anonymous, pass information to Crimestoppers on 0800 555111.
