POLICE seeking a missing Teesside student say a man walking through a churchyard minutes after his last sighting may hold clues to his disappearance.

CCTV images have been released by Cumbria Police as the search for Matthew Jordan continues.

Mr Jordan, aged 20, is from Nunthorpe, near Middlesbrough. He was visiting the Bowness area with three friends and was last seen in the early hours of Thursday, March 27 following a night out.

Detective Chief Inspector Bob Qazi said: "The CCTV images show a male walking though the churchyard next to the pub that Matthew and his friends were at.

"We would like to speak to this man in the hope that he may have information on where Matthew went after leaving the pub for the second time.

"I'd also ask that if there is anyone who may have seen a person matching Matthew's description in the early hours of March 27 to get in touch."

The CCTV images show a man walking through the grounds of the church and out of shot at 12.54am, only for him to return around ten seconds later walking in the direction he originally came from.

This is ten minutes after Matthew's last confirmed sighting at 12.44am.

Mr Jordan is described as 6ft tall, of medium build, with dark brown hair. He was last seen wearing a navy long sleeved shirt, jeans and grey pull up boots.

Anyone with any information on him or the man pictured in the CCTV is asked to contact Cumbria Police on 101 as soon as possible and ask for the duty sergeant at Windermere. Or you can call Missing People in confidence on 116 000.
