A CHURCH damaged by strong winds has undergone a £5,000 repair job.
Gales that hit the region in February tore a cross from the steeple at St Mary's Church, Sherburn Village, near Durham.
It then hit the church roof, causing a large hole.
Parishioners decided to have the roof repaired and the cross replaced. A Victorian weather vane was also repaired.
Priest in Charge Alan Bartlett said the work, which has now been completed, cost about £5,000.
