CATS and kittens in need of a loving home will be on display at a cattery open day this weekend.
Sadberge Boarding Kennels and Cattery has around 20 cats of all ages in its care and is holding an open day on Sunday (April 6) to help find them new homes.
Cattery worker Tina Anderson said the kennels and other re-homing shelters around the region have been inundated with unwanted animals as owners often refuse to get their pets neutered.
She said: “It can get quite frustrating because some people don’t take responsibility for their pets and when they have kittens and can’t get rid of them, they bring them to us.
“We have a lot of black cats and black and white ones in at the moment. Some people prefer tabbies or tortoiseshells, but black cats have brilliant personalities too and would make lovely pets.
“We are always on hand to any questions people might have about owning a cat and will offer advice to anyone who needs it.”
Refreshments and cakes will also be on offer at the open day, which runs from noon to 5pm at the kennels in Middleton Road, near Darlington.
