THE Bishop of Durham will lead a service to commemorate the 30th anniversary of a village pit closure.
The special service will be held at St Edmund's Church, Bearpark, near Durham City, on Sunday, April 13, at 3pm, with the Right Reverend Paul Butler presiding.
There will be readings from various village groups and a newly restored miners' memorial plaque will be rededicated.
Bearpark and Esh Colliery Band will provide the music.
Refreshments will be served afterwards in Bearpark Community Centre, where there will be an exhibition of photographs of Bearpark from the colliery times to the present.
All are welcome.
