THREE men are being hunted following the theft of a mountain bike worth £1,800.

The bike, a candy apple red and white coloured Rocky Mountain Vortex 50 model with hard tail, was stolen from a bungalow in Ovington, near Barnard Castle, between 5pm and 7pm on Sunday, March 30.

The suspects may have been using a silver and blue Citroen C5 which was seen being driven suspiciously in the village at the time.

Sergeant Simon Rogers said such an incident was unusual for Ovington.

He said police were keeping an open mind as to whether it had been an opportunist theft with the culprits spotting the bike as they made their way through the village or whether it had been specifically targeted because of its make and value.

Anyone with information should contact Crook CID or Barnard Castle Police on 101.
