COULD this be the world’s smallest lamb?

Tinker Bell, an Ouessant – the smallest sheep breed in the world, weighed in at just 2lb when it was born at Adventure Valley farm park, near Durham City, last week.

Owner Janine Calzini said Tinker Bell was born two weeks prematurely and was very weak.

“We didn’t think she was going to make it.

“She was so tiny and hardly moving at all when she was born and couldn’t stand to suckle.

“We called the vet in straight away who gave the lamb a booster.

“As she was two weeks premature her mother didn’t have milk for her, so we had to bottle feed her at first.

“But with a lot of love and care from my ten-year-old daughter Alessia and the rest of the Adventure Valley team, we have been able to nurse her back to health.”

At one week old, Tinker Bell is now 12ins tall, weighs 4lb and can be seen by visitors in the attraction’s indoor farmyard.

Three other Oussants are due to lamb at Adventure Valley next week.

Earlier in the week, another candidate for the title, was discovered. Bo Peep weighed four pound two ounces and was born at Doe Park Farm in Cotherstone, County Durham.
