HOWDEN-le-Wear Bridge Street Methodist Chapel is holding a public meeting on Wednesday, April 2, at 7.30pm to ask residents about their ideas for the future of the chapel.

There will be a soup lunch at the chapel on Thursday, April 3, at 12.30pm. Donations requested.

In addition, on Tuesday, April 8, between 10am and noon, there will be messy church for children up to five-years-old, accompanied by an adult.

WOMEN MEET: Helmington Row Women’s Institute will meet in the Dawson Street Chapel, in Crook, on Monday, April 7, at 7pm. Speaker Tina Fuller will give a costume talk on the regency lady. The competition is something lacy.

FILM CLUB: The St Cuthbert’s Centre Film Club, in Crook, is showing Philomena on Wednesday, April 2, at 2pm. Light refreshments available at 1.30pm. Donation of £2 required.

ORGAN CONCERT: The North-East Theatre Organ Association, based in the New Victoria Centre, in Howden-le-Wear presents Jean Martyn, star of Britain’s Got Talent, playing the Wurlitzer organ on Saturday, April 12, at 7pm. Tickets cost £7 and are available on 01388-762467.

PACT MEETING: The next Pact meeting for Howden-le-Wear and the surrounding villages will take place on Wednesday, April 9, at 6.30pm, in Howden Community Centre.

CLEVELAND HILLS: The Crook and Weardale Ramblers are holding a moderate eight-mile walk along field paths and tracks from Great Ayton to Captain Cook’s Monument, on Sunday, April 6. Meet at Crook Market Place at 9pm or outside Suggit’s, in Great Ayton, at 10.15am. For details call 0191-378-2051.
