A MAN is fighting for his life in hospital after being hit by a minibus early this morning.

A VW transporter minibus collided with the 23-year-old on Stockton Road, Hartlepool, at 12.30am.

He was taken to the James Cook University Hospital in Middlesbrough with serious head, chest and pelvic injuries.

A spokeswoman for Cleveland Police said he is in a critical condition.

Any witnesses who have not yet spoken to police are asked to call them on 101 and speak to PC Graeme Allinson of the Cleveland and Durham Specialist Operations Unit, quoting incident CVP-14-051517.
