THIEVES who stole a laptop after breaking into a business premises left behind a dog.
The incident happened at 1.05am on Tuesday (March 25), at the Print Centre at the junction of Fulwell Road next to the new Lidl building in Sunderland. The burglars smashed glass in the door to gain entry and stole an Apple Mac.
Police were called and found a small mid-brown coloured dog had been left in the building.
Neighbourhood Inspector Tony Carty said: "We believe the dog may have been left behind by the people who broke into the premises. We're asking for anyone who thinks they can identify those involved in this incident to contact us."
Police are appealing for witnesses to the burglary and for anyone who knows who the dog belongs to get in touch.
