APPLICATION forms are now available for an annual youth awards.

The Bishop Auckland Town Council 7th Annual Youth Awards competition is hoping to build on the success of last year, which saw Jack Drum Arts, Wear Valley Christian Centre and Venture Out each win £1,500.

Organisations are invited to apply for funding for a project, which will enhance the experience of young people and create a lasting benefit.

The ceremony takes place on Tuesday, June 4, at Bishop Auckland Town Hall and features a presentation by the 2013 winners.

Yvonne Etherington, of the Wear Valley Christian Centre, said: “We were amazed to have received the award last year and it enabled us to do a unique, creative, singing project with Escomb Primary School which the children thoroughly enjoyed and involved performing a concert at Wear Valley Christian Centre and recording a CD.

“The town council were very supportive and great to work with and the mayor of Bishop Auckland attended the concert. It was a great partnership between the town council, the local community, church and school."

To enter, two adults from an established organisation for young people between five and 20-years-old must submit the application and it must give costs.

Forms are available from the town clerk’s office in the Four Clocks Centre, Newgate Street, by calling 01388-609852 or by e-mailing council@bishopauckland-tc.gov.uk The deadline is Friday, April 11.
