VOLUNTEER rangers Fiona and David Eltringham lead a nine-and-a-half mile guided walk through countryside south of Durham tomorrow (Tuesday March 25).

The walk, which could take up to four-and-a-half hours to complete, begins at Sunderland Bridge, the old road crossing of the River Wear, at Croxdale, off the B6300, at 10.30am.

It is described as of “medium/long” difficulty, with a £4 charge for all those taking part.

CAMERAS CLICKING: Keen lensmen and women looking for good vantage points for different views of Durham are invited to join a photography walk through the city tomorrow (Tuesday March 25).

Photographer Philip Nixon leads the “easy” two-mile walk: “Maiden Castle and the Nobby Stiles Boathouse”, which is expected to take up to two hours to complete, starting from Baths Bridge, near Elvet Waterside, at 10am.

PIANO RECITAL: Popular Latvian pianist Arta Articane gives a recital at Belmont Parish Hall, off Broomside Lane, Belmont, near Durham, on Friday (March 28), at 2.30pm.

It will feature works by Debussy, including Clair de Lune, Grieg and Rachmaninov.
