THE funeral of a North-East soldier killed in Afghanistan is to be held next week.

Family and friends of Sapper Adam Moralee, from Ryton, Gateshead, will say their final farewells on Friday.

Sapper Moralee, who served with 32 Engineer Regiment, died on March 5 while working with his section within Camp Bastion.

He was preparing engineer plant equipment for redeployment when he was fatally injured.

He leaves behind his parents, Lynn and Darren, and fiancée, Emma.

A funeral service is being held at St Nicholas Cathedral in Newcastle at 11am before interment at Greenside Ceremony.

All welcome afterwards at HMS Calliope at Gateshead Quays.
