A FOOTBALL club’s pitches have received a boost thanks to a new lawn mower.

Councillors Rob Yorke and Christine Wilson used their Bishop Auckland and Shildon AAP neighbourhood budgets to purchase a new sit-on lawn mower for Witton Park Football Club.

“The old lawn mower took them four to five hours to cut the grass,” said Coun Yorke. “They needed something bigger and more efficient.

“They now have more time to concentrate on the football. We are delighted to have been able to help.”

Work is also underway on new changing, shower and toilet facilities in the village hall. One completed, anyone will be able to use the facilities, including Witton Park footballers and visiting teams.
