POLICE investigating a burglary at a Darlington gift shop have appealed for witnesses who may have seen windows being smashed to come forward.

Handbags, stuffed toys and silver jewellery were among a number of items stolen from the front display window of Bliss Gifts, in Duke Street, sometime between 6pm on Saturday, March 15 and 7am on Sunday, March 16.

Officers investigating the burglary, in which two windows were smashed, believe the offenders would have been at the store for some time.

They have appealed for anyone who was in the area that night to come forward with anything unusual they may have seen.
