A CHARITY duck race, which has become a highlight of a city’s calendar, was held yesterday (Saturday, March 15).
The race, organised by Durham University Charities Kommittee (Duck), saw about 10,000 plastic ducks tipped into the River Wear from Elvet Bridge, Durham City.
Each duck cost £1 to buy, with the race winner bagging £500.
Events team member Emily Lovelock said: "The day was a success.
"All proceeds will go to the Treetops children’s ward at the city’s University Hospital of North Durham and Action Against Malaria."
