POLICE are appealing for witnesses after a man suffered a fractured cheekbone in an assault.
The victim was assaulted by a white man in his 20s, who was in a group of four others, in the Denes area of Darlington, on the bridge opposite the entrance from Greenbank Road.
The man ran off over the bridge towards Northcote Terrace after the incident, which happened at around 8pm on Tuesday (March 11).
He was wearing a blue jumper with Gio Goi in yellow across the front.
Detective Constable Neil Stannard said the CCTV in the area does not cover the incident, but does show a number of dog walkers who were in the area at the time.
Anyone who witnessed the incident or was in the area at the time is asked to call Durham Police on 101, and ask for DC Stannard at Darlington CID.
