A history talk is to be held on the Skelton Association for the Prosecution of Felons from the late 18th century, when it operated as a form of legal aid, to its demise in the mid-twentieth century, when it was viewed more as a social club.
The talk, entitled My Granddad was a Felon, will be given by Peter Appleton at the County Records Office in Malpas Road, Northallerton on Friday, March 28, at 12.30pm. It is part of a series of monthly lunchtime talks organised jointly between Northallerton and District Local History Society and the North Yorkshire County Record Office. There is an admission charge of £2, including light refreshments.
