PLANS to build 36 homes on a derelict turkey factory site have been approved by Hambleton District Council.

The homes will be built on the site of a derelict former commercial yard on Willow Bridge Lane in Dalton, near Thirsk.

Outline planning permission for the housing development was granted following an appeal on July 4 last year.

On Thursday (March 6) the planning committee looked at details of the plans relating to landscaping, appearance and scale.

The development will include about 14 affordable homes.

The properties will be a mixture of four one-bedroomed apartments, ten two-bedroomed terraced homes and the rest will be four and five-bedroom detached homes.
