PHOTOGRAPHS chronicling a decade of village carnival fun will go on display this weekend.
The pictures were taken at Middleton-in-Teesdale Carnival between 1979 and 1988 by farmer John Wilkinson.
They form an exhibition called A Decade of Carnivals, Middleton's Magical Memories, which will be open to the public this weekend (March 15 and 16) upstairs at the Upper Teesdale Agricultural Support Services (Utass) office, in Chapel Row, Middleton-in-Teesdale.
Mr Wilkinson donated almost 800 photographs to Utass, the best of which are being used in the exhibition.
Many show activities which no longer form part of the carnival, such as a fancy dress wheelbarrow race.
Organisers hope the exhibition will inspire those planning to take part in this year's carnival, which culminates with a parade through the village on Saturday, August 2.
