BEARPARK Woodland Group will plant 250 native broad-leaved trees in Bearpark Colliery woods, near Durham, on Sunday, March 16, between 10am and 4pm, as part of the Big Tree Plant campaign. Volunteers are welcome to join in. The site will be signposted from Aldin Grange Terrace. Visitors are advised to wear suitable clothing and footwear. NEW STORE: A new Clintons card shop is to open on Silver Street, Durham City, tomorrow (Thursday, March 6). It will sell cards, wrap, candles and other goods.

GARDEN TALK: Durham Organic Gardeners’ Association will host a talk and demonstration by Taylors Clematis Nursery, Doncaster, at Bowburn Community Centre, Durham Road, Bowburn, on Wednesday, March 12, at 7.30pm. Entry is free and all are welcome. Light refreshments will be available.
