WORKMEN are repairing broken sewer pipe which has led to a hole opening up on Waddington Street, Durham City. The resurfacing is expected to be completed tomorrow (Wednesday, March 5).

FLOWER CLUB: Durham Flower Club will meet in Sherburn Village community hall on Thursday (March 6) at 2pm. The demonstration will be by Wendy Smith, whose title is A Bit of This and A Bit of That.

MARCH MEETING: Durham University of the Third Age (U3A) will meet at the Indoor Bowling Club, Pity Me, on Thursday, March 13, at 1.30pm for 2pm. LIGHT FESTIVAL: Echo of the Lumiere, a student art festival featuring light-based installations, will run from March 9 to 16. The works will be located around Durham Castle. People will be able to see the art for free from public spaces such as Framwelgate Bridge each evening.

POPPY CULLEN: Alington House Women’s Group will host a talk by Poppy Cullen from Durham University on the history of Britain and Kenya on Thursday (March 6). The group meets in Alington House community centre, North Bailey, Durham, between 11am and 1pm. Entry costs £2, including tea and coffee.
