A HOUSE fire in which a 32-year-old woman died has been deemed non-suspicious following an investigation.
Police this morning confirmed the identity of the woman killed in the blaze, which started at about 10.30am on Saturday (March 1), in Brunton Street Darlington.
She was 32-year-old Louise Hardisty.
A Durham Police spokesman said: "Following a joint investigation the fire has been deemed as non-suspicious.
"The police and fire service would like to remind the public to check their smoke alarms regularly to ensure they are working correctly.
"Our thoughts are with Louise's family and friends."
Firefighters wearing breathing apparatus entered the house on Saturday morning, after neighbours reported smoke pouring from the kitchen.
Efforts to rescuscitate Ms Hardisty proved unsuccessful and she was declared dead at the scene.
