A NORTH Yorkshire author who has attracted international acclaim for his debut novel has met fans at a book signing event.

Ian Johnson, a civil engineer from Malton, signed copies of The Witcher Keys, a fantasy tale set on the North York Moors, at WH Smith in Darlington.

Mr Johnson’s work is inspired by JRR Tolkien and follows two teenagers as they take on evil goblins and dark elves to save a young life.

The novel has only been on sale for a month, but it has already attracted the interest of Hollywood film producers.

Oliver Gregory, store manager at WH Smith, said: “The Witcher Keys is destined for huge success so we’re absolutely delighted to welcome Ian Johnson to the store as he embarks on what promises to be the start of a very exciting journey.

“The novel is a fantastic read for anyone who loves magic and mystery and there were plenty of people keen to get their copies signed.”
