A YOUNG chef who cooked up a storm in a prestigious competition has been rewarded for her efforts.
Northallerton College student Georgina Mackley, 15, was one of just five competitors to reach the Northern regional final of the Rotary Club Young Chef competition.
The local Northallerton Mowbray branch presented her with a certificate to mark her progress through the contest, which is designed to encourage young people into the industry.

Just eight marks separated the finalists and while Georgina didn’t win, the local club wanted to mark her achievement.
College governor and Rotary Club member Kevin Hardisty said: “Cooking is so much more than just taste and presentation, it encompasses a host of skills and Georgina acquitted herself extremely well.
“Standards throughout were extremely high; her lemon and ginger cheesecake was unbelievable.”
Club present Sue Bush added: “Georgina was incredibly calm and unruffled and her food was delicious.”
Georgina, of Romanby, said: “I love cooking. I used to make fairy cakes with my mum when I was about five years old and I find cooking so relaxing. I really enjoyed taking part in the competition.”
